CHRISTIAN MENDOZE  RECORDER

Christian MENDOZE is an extraordinary musician
as not only is he considered one of the finest recorder players of our time,
but he is also a choreographer and an autodidact.

He performs regularly with such prominent soloists and ensembles as Davitt Moroney, John Elwes,
René Jacobs, Concerto Koln, La Grande Ecurie and La Chambre du Roy, and has made several recordings
(the first was awarded by the Académie du Disque Grand Prix) for different labels : Verany Arion,
Claves Records,
Musidisc, Cantus, Arsis Classic. Now, he mades recordings with Intégral Classic (Paris).
He has also been the artistic director of the Festival de Callas (in the Var) since its creation.

In 1981, Christian MENDOZE founded MUSICA ANTIQUA, in the Provence region,
in order to illustrate a repertoire revolving around music of the Renaissance.
Since 1991, the ensemble has developed into a Baroque Orchestra performing music
from the 17th and 18th centuries without employing the currently fashionable mannerisms.
The ensemble plays original early instruments, or copies of early instruments,
using a particularly rich and varied continuo line.
