JEAN-MARIE TROTEREAU  CELLO

Jean-Marie TROTEREAU began learning the cello at the age of six after
attending a concert given by the great cellist Pierre Fournier. He went on to study
at the Conservatoire of Toulouse and then at the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Paris,
where he obtained First Prizes in cello and chamber music.

After spending time in Finland with Arto Noras at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki,
he won several international prizes, and was appointed solo cellist wit
the Auvergne Orchestra in 1985. There began a series of fruitful encounters
which resulted in extremely diverse and interesting music activities. He has appeared
in major European cities and festivals including Madrid, Athens, Amsterdam,
Festival de La Chaise Dieu, Les Flâneries Musicales des Reims, as well as on television
and radio broadcasts for stations such as France 3 Television, Radio France and Musik.

A recognised chamber musician, he has recorded a broad repertoire ranging
from Baroque to contemporary music with numerous soloists
such as Jean-Jacques Kantorow, Gordon Nikolitch, Laurent Martin and Philippe Bernold.
Having been won over by modern string instrument making,
he plays a cello made by Patrick Charton.
